Alyaa Gad - Foods For A Healthy Heart

If you wish to keep a healthy heart or if you’re a heart patient, I have some nutritional advice for you. To maintain a healthy heart and blood vessels we should keep a healthy lifestyle by maintaining a normal body weight, practising regular exercise and eating the proper kind of foods.

Most importantly we should bear in mind the difference between good fats and bad fats, because this is what affects the walls of the blood vessels and thus will affect the heart on the long run. To begin with, omega-3 is one of the most beneficial oils to our heart. You can get it from capsules, or from oils, and also from nuts and fish. Fish may be unfortunately polluted, so I prefer using omega-3 in the form of oils or capsules. It is very important to choose liquid fats (at room temperature) like plant oils, and avoid solid fats (at room temperature). Remember that hydrogenated oils are not good for your heart, and remember that they are solid at room temperature, which means that they are not a good choice. It is better that you add fresh oil to the salad, or add it after cooking, so as to keep the health benefits of the oils.

It is also very important to avoid the intake of sugar and salt.

Eat more fibres, because it will regulate your cholesterol level, and glucose levels as well.

Eat less red meat and more of fish and poultry.

Eat more vegetables and fruits.

These are the most important measures to protect your heart. Maintain a healthy body weight, keep a healthy lifestyle, recognize the good fats and the bad ones, make educated, healthy choices.
