Referring to charges of sedition which led to the arrest of the JNU Students’ Union president and registration of a case against former DU lecturer SAR Geelani, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi today said people with “whimsical ideas” should not resort to “insolence” in view of stringent punishment under this IPC section. "Any activity that generates contempt or hatred against the nation or the government, comes under the purview of IPC Section 124 A. If any person gets any whimsical ideas, I request them not to resort to any such form of insolence as the punishment under this section ranges from three years to life imprisonment,” he said.
