They were extorted to be treated like slaves. Three young students of the SVS Medical College in Tamil Nadu paid three-times the fees for an education which was denied to them.

Instead of textbooks they were handed brooms and mops, called 'criminals' and extorted in the name of education. Unable to bear the humiliation and financial burden, they embraced death over slavery.
