Supreme Court refuses to lift ban on Diesel Cars

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a December ruling that temporarily banned the sale of large diesel cars in New Delhi to combat toxic smog in the capital. The carmakers had argued that their models were environment friendly as they adhered to emission norms. Toyota cited its hybrid models such as the Prius, priced at about Rs 40 lakh, as a case in point while M&M spoke about its electric model Reva.
