Petition filed against Nawaz Sharif for addressing UNGA speech in ‘English’

A contempt petition has been filed in the Pakistan Supreme Court against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for addressing the 70th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in English.


As PM Nawaz began delivering his address at the US Institute of Peace, a protester chanted, “Free Balochistan” and called the premier a “friend of [Osama] bin Laden”.
