Nation At 9: BJP drags Owaisi into ban row

Attack they say is the best form of defence. The BJP today relied on this axiom to super charge the debate on the demand for a ban on the Sanatan Sanstha which is

thought to be a radical Hindu fringe organisation allegedly involved in the killing of rationalists Pansare and Kalburgi besides a string of terror attacks.

A top BJP mantri at the state level said that if the Sanstha is to be banned for making explosive statements then that demand could be stretched to include the MIM

helmed by parliamentarian Assaddudin Owaisi.

The BJP has equated the MIM a bonafide political party to the Sanstha. It has done this on the ostensible grounds that if the Sanstha is guilty of violating the

constitution then the MIM too undermined the constitution and fanned disaffection when it criticised the supreme court for sentencing 1993 Mubmai blast convict Yakub

Memon to hang on the grounds that he was a muslim.

The Mim chief Assaddudin Owaisi who we will question in just a few moments on this show has rejected the comparison alleging that there is more than meets the eye to

the strident defence launched by the BJP in favour of the Sanstha .

The debate is an open one both sides have answers to the fundamental questions does the BJP's strong advocacy of the Sanstha prove that it has ideological sympathies

with it and was the decision by the MIM to oppose the hanging of Yakub Memom anti-national as the bjp alleges?

We'll throw this open to debate but right after this news report.
