Nation at 9: Three murdered, others may be next

India’s most basic freedom, the freedom to think, is under relentless attack. Over the last few months several rationalists have been killed and threatened.
Dhabolkar, Pansare and Kalburgi have paid the price of daring to question.

The Maharashtra govt initially slow to probe have after a massive public outrage made a few arrests in connection with Pansare's murder. Those detained are said to belong to a right wing Hindu fringe party but in a shocking twist the Sena which shares power with the BJP govt in the state has virtually laughed off the probe.

In an editorial published in the party mouth piece the Sena has in fact poked holes in the claims that a Hindu fringe group or any of its activists could be guilty.

Ironically the editorial has appeared on a day when a top editor and intellectual has alleged that he was the next target of right wing intolerance.
