Mumbai meat ban: Banning meat is not the solution, says High Court

With the Bombay Mutton Dealer’s Association challenging Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) decision to ban the sale of meat for four days during the Jain festival of Paryushan, beginning Thursday. The Bombay High Court has asked the state government and BMC to file a response if there has always been a ban on sale of mutton previously on these days. The association had claimed that the ban was only limited to slaughtering on two days, according to earlier practice.
