Farmers drought relief cheques stolen in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh

As many as 900 cheques meant to be distributed to farmers who incurred losses due to untimely rain have gone missing in Jalaun, district in Uttar Pradesh. Rs 18 lakh have been withdrawn through fictitious signatures of 162 farmers and officials. What is more shocking is that cheques are still being disbursed by the signature of the previous officer Durgesh Yadav. FIR has been lodged but no breakthrough yet.
