Air India crew member caught smuggling 3 kgs gold worth Rs 78 lakh: Customs

In another shocking incident revolving around national carrier Air India, few of the crew members of the flight are allegedly caught smuggling 3kg GOLD in the flight valued for Rs. 78.1 lakh.

The letter to the Executive Director of western region of Air India sent on Tuesday by Customs Air Intelligence unit highlights severe lapses in the custom clearance by the Air India crew members.

The letter further talks about ‘GOLD smuggling’ episodes by the crew members of Air India including Nihal Prajapati and Sidhesh Patil.

The letter brings to notice that how the crew member of Air India was caught smuggling 3 kilos of gold valuing Rs. 78.1 lakh while he was operating the DOMESTIC FLIGHT AI-012 on the Mumbai-Ahemedabad itinerary.
