Nearly 20 students were injured in clashes between Trinamool Congress (TMC), BJP's students' wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Communist Party of India's students' wing Students' Federation of India (SFI) supporters in a college in Raigunj, West Bengal.

Two students reportedly sustained bullet injuries in the clashes. Former minister and CPI leader Srikumar Mukherjee's car was allegedly shot at. Police resorted to lathicharge to control the mob. The clashes took place over withdrawal of nomination papers for students' union elections in Surendranath College in Raigunj, North Dinajpur.

Policemen, including the in-charge of the local police station, were also injured in the brick-batting by students. The police opened lathicharge to bring the clashing groups under control. Violence broke out in the college over submission of nomination papers for the students' union elections.
