Tarun Gogoi blames Centre for Assam violence
  • 5 years ago
The blame game over the killings carried out by the NDFB (S) in Assam intensified with chief minister Tarun Gogoi today all but accusing the Centre of leaking intelligence to pin the blame on Dispur and the BJP of having "nexus" with the militant outfit.

The BJP hit back at the ruling Congress after Gogoi told newspersons the BJP was "politicising" the killings by leaking intelligence reports about Dispur having prior information about the carnage.

"By leaking out the intelligence reports, they (Centre, BJP) are also exposing themselves because the counter-insurgency operations in the state are headed by the army's GOC 4 Corps. I am not saying I am not responsible but it is collective responsibility...you cannot say we have failed. That is why I want a judicial inquiry to find out what happened. I will order a judicial inquiry," Gogoi said, accusing Union minister of state for sports Sarbananda Sonowal of trying to project the carnage as the failure of Dispur.
