Days after Trilokpuri area witnessed communal clashes in Delhi, tension is simmering in Delhi's another region, Bawana over the demand by Hindus to bar the passage of Muharram procession in the area by Muslims which will be held on November 4. On Sunday a mahapanchayat demanding a bar on the taziya procession took place in Bawana (Northwest Delhi) which was attended by nearly 2,000 locals including BJP MLA Ghuggan Singh and Congress councilor Devinder Poni. It was decided in the mahapanchayat in agreement with the Muslims living in the area that the Muharram procession will not be taken out in the Jat-dominated areas. As per reports, BJP MLA Gugan Singh, who took part in the mahapanchayat, said that there is a possibility of violence if the procession is carried through the Hindu colony. "They (Muslims) can do whatever they want in their houses but they have no right to disturb others," Singh was quoted as saying in TOI. In Bawana, Muslims in the area, most of whom live in a JJ colony settled in the area about a decade ago and Hindu, Muslim colonies are separated by a drain. Muslims were expected to take out the procession on Muharram from the Hindu colony, whose residents opposed to it.
