Mudgal report re-confirms Meiyappan’s role?

The Justice Mukul Mudgal Committee’s final report, which will be submitted in the Supreme Court in the first week of November, is expected to confirm that Gurunath Meiyappan — son-in-law of ICC chairman N Srinivasan — was an important Chennai Super Kings (CSK) official and that he was involved in betting during the 2013 Indian Premier League season. These revelations will leave CSK’s future under a cloud and lead to crucial questions about the franchise’s existence in the league.

Early this year, after a preliminary inquiry into the IPL corruption scandal, the Justice Mudgal committee, as part of its interim report, had given the names of 12 prominent players and officials in a sealed envelop to the Supreme Court. Following this, the apex court had asked the National Narcotics Bureau Deputy Director B B Mishra to investigate the matter with the help of Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi police
