Two trains collide in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur

12 passengers were killed and over 45 injured when three coaches of the Lucknow Barauni Express (15204) derailed following collision with Krishak Express (15007) at Nandanagar railway crossing in Gorakhpur. ​

Railway Board chairman Arunendra Kumar told reporters that seven coaches have derailed.

Rescue teams of railway and Gorakhpur district administration have reached the spot and rescue operations are under way.

CPRO of Northeast Railways Alok Singh told reporters that though the exact cause of accident is not known yet.

The collision between the two trains took place at around 10pm, derailing three coaches of the Lucknow-Barauni Express.
