Old guard told not to criticise Rahul Gandhi in public

Battlelines were drawn in the Congress Tuesday with several young leaders — considered close to Rahul Gandhi — coming together and deciding to raise their voice against the “public attack” on the Congress vice-president by a section of the senior leadership.

They feel there is an orchestrated attempt by a section of the old guard to stymie Rahul’s organisational reform process after the crushing electoral defeat.

The young guns have been upset with the public criticism of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi by some leaders and silence of seniors when Congress vice-president comes under attack from within and outside. Sources said several AICC secretaries and some former MPs met Tuesday night and decided to make a “move” and tell the seniors to put an end to the blame game.
