TMC MLA threatens CPI(M) backed doctors

Courting controversy an MLA from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) by issued a controversial comment where he questioned whether people should burn "living effigies" of doctors affiliated to CPI(M)'s medical wing.

Dr Nirmal Majhi, the accused legislator, was caught on camera saying, “Agitators can burn the effigies of CM Mamata Banerjee, but, when caught by the public, it’s difficult to know if their effigies should be burnt or living effigies.”

Majhi is president of Trinamool backed Progressive Doctors Association. The protest of medics began after North Bengal Medical College and Hospital Principal Dr Anup Kumar Roy was suspended following outburst of encephalitis in north Bengal on August 4.
