Karnataka scraps cash-for-job examination list; selection process to be overhauled

The scam ridden 2011 gazetted probationers examination for 362 KAS (Karnataka Administrative Services) posts has been totally scrapped.

Trying to send a strong message against malpractices and corruption in selection of candidates to group 'A' and 'B' posts by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), the state cabinet on Thursday decided to scrap the list of selected candidates forwarded by the autonomous body. This means, examinations for the 362 posts will be held afresh.

The new examination will be held as per PC Hota committee recommendations which is almost on the lines of the one conducted for UPSC where the theory marks are not revealed to the interviewer. The existing system provided scoped for corruption, which would commence with the interviewer aware of the marks scored by the candidate and negotiate for higher grading in the viva-voce to get a good posting.
