Industrialist Ratan Tata’s remarks about not seeing enough “signs of industrial development” in West Bengal and thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing Nano with “a home in Gujarat” sparked off a controversy on Thursday with state Finance Minister Amit Mitra saying that the former “has lost his mind”.

“He himself doesn’t know about plans of his own companies to invest in West Bengal. His company officials belonging to Tata Consultancy Services had assured our Chief Minister in Mumbai of huge investments in the state.

“I am surprised he was not properly updated by his own officials. He has lost his mind and should better concentrate on his hobby of flying. We are number one in terms of attracting investments for medium and small-scale industries in the country. He has lost his mind,” Mitra said.
