Sunanda Pushkar case: Dr Gupta claims he was pressurised to alter the autopsy report

The head of the AIIMS forensic department Dr Sudhir Gupta has claimed that he was forced to say that the death of Sunanda Pushkar, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's late wife, was "natural". In a statement, Dr Gupta has said that there is a malafide agenda to oust him from his position for taking a "professional position which went against vested interests."

Dr Sudhir Gupta had conducted the postmortem of Sunanda Pushkar. Dr Gupta has written to the Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. Seeking details of the case, the Health Minister said, "I have asked the director of AIIMS to send me a detailed report in this matter."

Dr Gupta has claimed that an illegal order has been passed to oust him from the post of HOD and promote a fellow doctor of the same department for "taking a professional stand in the Sunanda Pushkar and Nido Tania case which went against the vested interest of certain persons in AIIMS."
