Narendra Modi rejects Manmohan's governance model

Narendra Modi has made another swift move to carry out his 'minimum government, maximum governance' promise. Five days in office and he has abolished an administratively cumbersome UPA legacy; the 30 Groups of Ministers (GoMs) and Empowered Groups of Ministers (EGoMs).

The move is expected to empower various ministries and departments and hasten the decision-making process. A statement issued by the PMO said, "The Prime Minister today decided to abolish all the existing nine Empowered Groups of Ministers (EGoMs) and twenty-one Groups of Ministers (GoMs).
