Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday met the family members of two dalit sisters, who were gang-raped and murdered here earlier this week, and demanded CBI probe into the matter. Moments after, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav agreed to order a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the horrific case.

"The Uttar Pradesh government is ready to recommend a CBI probe. Will soon send a request to the Centre," said a statement issued by Akhilesh, who is under attack from opposition parties. He has not visited Badaun and met victims' family as yet.

Amidst huge outrage over growing lawlessness in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi, meanwhile, met the family members at their home and also visited the site where the bodies of the two girls were found hanging. He assured the family of all possible help, Congress leaders said.
