Congress President Sonia Gandhi has refused to accept the resignation of Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who offered to step down after the party's dismal performance in Lok Sabha elections.
The final decision on Gogoi will reportedly be taken after Sonia consults the Assam MLAs. A section of Congress MLAs in Assam have carried out a signature campaign against Gogoi's leadership.
