Sonia Gandhi congratulates Modi on his victory

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi congratulated Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi on Thursday.
Sonia sent a letter of congratulation to the BJP leader on Tuesday, AICC sources said on Thursday. It is being said that Sonia was awaiting BJP to elect Narendra Modi as its Parliamentary Party leader.
There had been criticism of Sonia and her son Rahul Gandhi for not felicitating Modi by his name after his landslide win.
Sonia and Modi were at loggerheads during campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls.
While Congress was crushed in the Lok Sabha polls with its worst ever performance, BJP became the only non-Congress party to achieve complete majority on its own in the Lower House.
Narendra Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister on May 26.
