Sikh players played without turban in next 6 matches

Sikh members of the Indian basketball team - which was part of the FIBA Asia Cup in Wuhan, China - were forced to remove their turbans before stepping on the court during the tournament.

The team's two Sikh players - Amritpal Singh and Amjyot Singh - were not allowed to play India's campaign-opener against Japan on July 12 due to the turbans they were wearing.

As per the match officials, International Basketball Association (FIBA) rules don't permit players to wear headgears during a game.

Article 4.4.2 of FIBA's rules states: "Players shall not wear equipment (objects) that may cause injury to other players," adding, "Headgear, hair accessories and jewellery are not permitted."
