The ambitious Goods and Service Tax (GST) slated to be launched at a midnight event in Parliament’s Central Hall on June 30 revokes the memories of the famous “Tryst with Destiny” speech delivered by the first Prime Minister of independent India Jawaharlal Nehru to the Indian Constituent Assembly on the eve of India’s Independence on 15 August 1947, minus the strong opposition by the opposition this time which has decided to give the event a skip.
