The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the daily temperatures across India will go above normal this summer.

According to IMD, several states are likely to witness heatwave conditions and the temperature will go up by 1°C, except north west India, which might be hotter than that.

"Above normal temperatures up to one degree Celsius are likely to prevail over all meteorological sub-divisions of the country, except the northwest India where temperatures are likely to be more than 1 degree Celsius above normal," the IMD said.

Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana, and Met subdivisions of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Madhya Maharashtra, all are expected to be hotter this year.

While 2016 was termed as the hottest year since 1901, above normal temperatures are expected all over the country in next three months (March-May).
