: Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday slammed the alliance between Samajwadi Party and Congress and said SP was capable enough to contest and win elections alone and there was no need for the alliance.

The face of the alliance is his son and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. The SP patriarch further said that he will not go anywhere to campaign for the SP-Congress alliance.

"I will not go anywhere to campaign for this (SP-Congress) alliance," Mulayam Singh Yadav told ANI.

Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday predicted more than 300 seats in the assembly election to the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance which Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi linked to the "Ganga-Yamuna milan".

Addressing a joint press conference with Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav said people of Uttar Pradesh had made up their mind and were backing the newly-formed alliance to the hilt.
