Central Government officially opposes Triple Talaq in Supreme Court

The central government has told the Supreme Court it opposes a practice that allows a Muslim man to divorce his wife by pronouncing talaq thrice.
“Gender equality and dignity of women are non-negotiable and we can brook no compromise,” said the government in an affidavit filed before the court.
