News X : JPC Meet on the 2G Allocation today

The curtain is rising on a potentially stormy meeting of the JPC to adopt its controversial report on the 2G scam on Friday even as the likely absence of two Janata Dal (U) MPs could tilt the scales towards UPA.
The impending vote to adopt the report has seen both Congress and opposition mustering numbers but the ruling coalition is banking on ally Nationalist Congress Party and outside supporters Samajwadi Party and BSP.

BJP and Left are set to oppose the report's adoption and will be supported by DMK's T R Baalu who is expected to insist on former telecom minister A Raja being called before the committee. Baalu also wants a fresh set of documents to be examined.
NCP MP Y P Trivedi, who had earlier supported the demand for Raja to be called as a witness, is not likely to press the point at Friday's meeting. NCP's "yes" vote along with SP and BSP support should bolster Congress's position.

The game changer, however, is likely to be the strategic absence of JD(U) leaders Sharad Yadav and RCP Singh which will lower the majority mark in the 30-member committee from 15 to 14.
