The Central Trade Unions (CTU) opposition to the Central government's "unilateral labour reforms and anti-worker policies" crippled essential services across the country on Friday as the unions went on strike.

Last year, the number of the striking workers peaked to almost 14 crore all across the country. This time, the unions claim that the number of striking labourers will shoot up to a staggering 18 crore. The strike has affected essential services such as banking, public transport and telecom.
