NewsX Campaign: Raped by the Law - End Juvenile injustices in rape cases

Once again the law is about to offer an escape route to rapists after having ruined the girl's life .... purely because the alleged rapists are all under 18 and therefore come under the Juvenile Justice Act. The family of the rape survivor who is herself a minor are outraged. Ironically, the chargesheet did not name the juvenile accused of this dastardly crime. This of course will not be the first time. Just last month Delhi's braveheart was denied justice. The Delhi court let off Damini's most 'brutal' assailant because he was a minor. In fact the boy will be free in a matter of 20 odd months. The Guwahati Court sent 5 minor boys accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, to 3-days in Remand Home. The decision has caused anguish to the family of the victim as the minors are not being treated as adult rape accused are. The family of the victim is questioning the logic of the law that treats the 5 minor rapists with 'kid gloves', while the victim's life is nearly destroyed. Today the Mumbai Police have filed a chargesheet in the case of a young woman who was raped by five youth including one juvenile in a mill complex in maximum city.
