News X: MEA will 'carefully examine' Pak T20 team's visa application

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday said that it would "carefully examine" the factors before granting the Pakistani cricket team visas to India to participate in the qualifying round of the Champions League T20 tournament, which is scheduled to kickoff on September 17.
"It is true that we have been approached for visas by a team from Pakistan in the Champions League T20 tournament. But my understanding is that that tournament doesn't start for more than a month. Now that we have received this request, we will carefully examine it and consider all aspects before we take a decision. Once we take that decision, we will communicate it-both to those who requested us and to you all," MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said.
