News X: Govt files review petition against SC ruling on convicted lawmakers

The Centre on Monday filed a review petition seeking a relook in the Supreme Court's earlier land mark judgement on disqualification of MPs and MLAs convicted in a criminal case.

The Centre contended that protecting convicted MPs and MLAs from disqualification during pendency of appeal is necessary 'to protect the House and to ensure that governance is not adversely impacted'.
