NewsX: Food Bill aims to alleviate chronic Hunger and Poverty

Discussion on food security bill begins today in Lok Sabha after food minister K V Thomas introduced the fresh bill, along with the ordinance, which was promulgated on july 5. Earlier, AIADMK and DMK had opposed it after it was introduced in the Parliament.
The opposition parties including Left and BJP have made it clear that they will not allow the Bill in its current form, and are likely to move resolutions.
