News X: Supreme Court to hear Javed Akhtar's plea today

News X: Lyricist Javed Akhtar's petition asking for an enquiry into the fake encounters in Gujarat will come up for hearing before the Supreme Court today.
The petition dates back to 2007, when the eminent lyricist moved the Supreme Court, seeking a probe by the Special Investigating Team into the killing of one Sameer Khan in an alleged fake encounter by the Gujarat police.
The petition, filed by Javed Akhtar and activist Shabnam Hashmi running an NGO "Anhad", claims that killing of Sameer by the Gujarat police in the alleged fake encounter on October 1st, 2002 by Crime Branch of Ahmedabad was nothing more than a ''cold blooded murder''.
