NewsX: NEET Exam quashed by SC increases confusion

NewsX: The Supreme Court on Thursday quashed the Medical Council of India's (MCI) notification for holding a common entrance test — or the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) — for MBBS, BDS and post-graduate medical courses. Admissions that have already taken place will not be affected, the court clarified. Many students feel that this was the one step that was taken in the interest of the students, where too, a loophole has been found. Students this year were relaxed, since they could apply to several colleges on the basis of one exam, but they have to start running about again, from next year. For about 45,600 seats in medical colleges in India, life of NEET is hardly clear. There is a rumour that parents supporting this single entrance exam might appeal to the court in favour of the exam.
