Uttarakhand Floods: A month after tragedy struck
  • 5 years ago
NewsX: It was a month ago that tragedy struck Uttarakhand on June 16, rehabilitation seems a far cry for over 232 villages still cut off from the rest of the State. This is amid Government identifying as many as 239 villages for immediate rehabilitation.

Another foremost factor that has been a major hurdle in rehabilitation work is the slow progress in putting the derailed connectivity back in place. Over 1200 roads have been either washed away or blocked, affecting movement.

The biggest challenges are repair and relaying of thousands of kilometres of mountain roads ripped off in rains, rehauling the infrastructure and normalizing the tourism sector.
