NewsX Debate : Does Shukla's going mean Srinivasan will follow? - Part 2
  • 5 years ago
NewsX: The deal to oust Srinivasan is being worked out as we speak - a compromise Formula.

Sources tell NewsX that Srinivasan is insisting he will step down only until the fixing probe is over, that's being accepted for now, as a face-saver for the BCCI boss.

The BCCI working committee meeting to be held at 2.30 pm in Chennai tomorrow is then expected to select an interim president, the names of former BCCI head Shashank Manohar and DV Subba Rao are in the reckoning for that post.

But there are still pockets of support for the beleagured BCCI chief. BCCI East wing vice-president Chitrak Misra says he has not taken a decision to resign yet.

However, buckling under relentless pressure to quit, Srinivasan has convened an emergency meeting of the Board's all-powerful working committee on June 8 to discuss the current crisis.

Even as the decision to convene the meeting had come owing to the pressure exerted by three members, reports suggest that efforts are also on to pre-pone the meeting to either June 3 or June 4 instead of the scheduled June 8. This is seen as the first step towards the final exit of Srinivsan from the plum post.
