Yakub Memon death plea: SC bench differs on execution, refers case to larger bench

With the two judges disagreeing on the point of law, the Supreme Court on Tuesday referred to a larger bench a petition by 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon challenging his death warrant. While Justice Anil R Dave chose to dismiss Yakub’s plea after finding it without merit, Justice Kurian Joseph said there was a procedural flaw in dismissing Yakub’s curative petition.
