Damini Gangrape Case Trial hits a road block

NewsX: Another shocker has come to the fore in the Damini gangrape case. Crime branch's search for the transport department officials who helped the owner of the bus used in December 16 gangrape has reached a dead end as the file containing the bus details have reportedly gone missing.

Crime Branch sources say that the transport department has mysteriously wiped out all the details of the vehicle on the pretext that the bus was registered 10 yrs ago and old records were not preserved.

Officers fear that without the papers and cooperation from the transport department the manner in which the bus owner Dinesh Yadav illegally obtained the licence and permits for the bus used the fateful night of Dec 16 will remain unclear.

During Damini's case, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had showed lot of sympathy for Damini but displayed inability in curbing such incidents as the police doesn't come under the state jurisdiction.

What does the Chief Minister have to say now, when it is the transport department, falling under the Delhi Govt, which is allegedly on the other side of the law.

Traffic officials have been found not only guilty of destroying the evidence but also, in the first place, committing crime of granting licences and permits illegally.

How would now the guilty traffic cops be brought to book?
