High Court slams Mamata govt

Despite the High Court ruling, Mamata Banerjee has said that the Panchayat elections will be conducted on time. She said that the govt will not bow down to the conspiracy hatched by the CPIM and the Congress. Earlier, High Court had ruled that the state government's announcement of dates for the panchayat polls was illegal. Panchayat bodies in the state's 17 districts, elected for a five-year period, complete their terms in July.
