Politics makes strange bedfellows. With BJP, JD(U) rift quite visible. Congress is wooing Nitish hard, trying to get BJP's key ally on its side. Centre has given Bihar a 12,000 crore package. JD(U) is upset with BJP over Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's projection as PM candidate and has made it clear that it only wants a secular candidate for the top job. While JD(U) many not want to break ties with BJP to join Congress, but Nitish' support can be extremely rewarding for Congress in Bihar. Ahead of the 2014 polls, a political alignment is in the offing.
