Why is the Congress wooing Mamata Banerjee?

Meanwhile, Mamata flew back to Kolkata to take matters into her own hands. Mamata Banarjee has upped her ante over being heckled by Left activists outside the Planning Commission's office on Tuesday. She seems to be having the Congress bending backwards to placate her after the attack. So the question we are asking is- Are the Bengal Panchayat polls the real trigger for the attack on Mamata? Was the attack on Mamata intended to polarize the voters in Bengal? Why is the Congress wooing Mamata Banerjee?
