Travelling in Trains is all set to become costlier from today. The hike in reservation fee and super fast charges announced in the Rail Budget comes into effect from today. Though the railways had not increased the basic passenger fare, it had propsed increase of the reservation fee, superfast and Tatkal charges along with cancellation and clerkage charges. Besides the hike in passenger fares, freight rate for all commodities is set to go up by about 5.7 per cent from today. The hike in service charges on the tickets is expected to mop up about Rs.880 Cr annually, while the freight rate revision will fetch Rs.4,200 Crore for the railways in the fiscal 2013-14.
