Chennai students want ban on Lanka IPL players

The issue of alleged genocide in Lanka continues to haunt India especially in Tamil Nadu. Students in Chennai are up in arms against the inclusion of any Sri Lankan elements in the IPL Season 6 matches that begin from April 3. Apart from the several issues pertaining to the Eelam such as alleged Genocide by Sri Lankan army and the continued apartheid-like treatment meted out to the Tamils by the Sinhala fellow-citizens, the students are also protesting the participation of Sri Lanakan playesr in the cash-rich IPL matches of cricket. Students from city colleges and federation for free eelam have gathered outside M A chidambaram stadium, Chepauk to protest against the srilankan players and umpires in the sixth edition of the IPL. They have been demanding removal of all the 11 players from all the teams. Two srilankan players kulasekara and Akila Dhananjeya from Chennai super kings were dropped following protests and statement from the CM J Jayalalithaa that Sri Lankan players and umpires should not play on the chennai ground.
