It was a year ago, in January 2014, that Manjeet Sen, a resident of UP’s Bulandshahr district, wrote a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office seeking monetary help for marriage of his two younger sisters. Stating that his financial condition was not good, Manjeet, a postgraduate, had sent a list of expenses planned for the two marriages for which he required Rs 3.64 lakh.
