The Capital shivers and fog sparks travel chaos as winter rages on
  • 5 years ago
Delhi woke up to a frosty and foggy morning on Friday. With a dense blanket of fog enveloping the city, visibility dropped to a poor 500 metres. Many short-haul flights were cancelled and several long-haul ones were delayed. Nearly 90 trains — 63 on their way to Delhi and 27 moving out of NCR — were also rescheduled owing to the precarious weather conditions.

The minimum temperature in the Capital plummeted to 4.8°Celsius below normal, while the maximum hovered around 15-16°C between Palam and Safdarjung respectively, which was 1° below the season’s average. Declaring Friday as the second day of the cold spell that has engulfed entire North India.
