Season’s first snow wraps Shimla in white blanket

The state capital Shimla, Kufri, Narkanda, Khara-Patthar and Kalpa received the season’s first snowfall today, causing a sharp drop in the mercury, while higher reaches and tribal areas of Himachal had another spell of moderate snowfall.The mid and lower hills experienced widespread rain, breaking the prolonged dry spell. Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti received 12 cm snow, while the Kaza-Sumdoh road was closed due snow at Malling Nullah. Vehicular traffic on the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway was also hampered due to snow at Narkanda and Kufri and some vehicles were also stranded, but normal traffic was restored after a few hours.
