Uninor shuts Mumbai services, 18lakh customers affected

Telecom Operator Uninor has shut down its Mumbai operations following the Supreme Court order. The telephone connections of over 18 Lakh customers are expected to suffer due to this. Uninor, Managing director Sigve Brekke, said in a statement, "The court has ordered an immediate closure of operations and no temporary license too is available to allow a gradual process. Unfortunately, we have no choice now but to follow the court's order and close down our network immediately. Telenor's permits in 22 zones were among those ordered to be revoked by the Supreme Court in February 2012.
